ARC's 2010 Novice Rowing Season will begin on Monday July 19th and run through November 20th and is divided into two sessions (July 19-Sept 8th, and Sep 13 - Nov 20). For full details, check our our Adult Novice Program page.
You are about to register for Session #1 (of 2) of the ARC Adult Novice Program, which runs from July 19th-September 8th.
Classes meet three times per week (Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 pm, and Saturday mornings from 7:30-9:30 am). The Novice Program will provide participants with the broad knowledge and practical experience necessary to become good rowers and active club participants.
Our experience is that for new rowers to make significant improvements in their rowing skills, they need to attend at least half of the Novice Program classes. This experience will allow you to gain experience on the water, and prepare you for the various programs offered at ARC.
Rowing is a sport that involves the entire body, especially the legs. Boat and oar carries are also an integral part of each practice that will require some upper body strength, approx. 35 lbs. If you are unable to squat or put weight on your knees or have concerns about your participation in boat carries, please contact us to discuss. Please note, before starting any exercise program consult your physician or qualified health professional.
The program fee includes coaching each night, and as a result the class sizes are limited. The maximum number of participants is 36. These spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis. You will be notified via email upon acceptance into the program. Understandably, once the participant begins the program session, no refunds will be available.
