Established in 1983, Annapolis Rowing Club (ARC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer-based community organization dedicated to advancing the sport of rowing. The club serves adults of all abilities, whether they are just learning to row or long-time athletes. We offer an adaptive program to community members with cognitive or physical disabilities to ensure that rowing is accessible to everyone who wants to learn and reap the benefits of the sport.
Annapolis Rowing Club is a valuable community resource. The graceful yet powerful sport of rowing provides participants with a low-impact, full-body workout with many health benefits for both mind and body. Rowing promotes:
-
Cardio endurance and muscle strengthening
-
Mental discipline and stress relief
-
Teamwork and camaraderie
-
Social connections
How You Can Help
Currently, the club’s most urgent primary need is for funds to build a new floating dock that will give the club access to Gingerville Creek and the South River.
Donations also go toward, for example:
-
Supporting member volunteers who have donated hundreds of hours in support of the adaptive program
-
Educating the community on the advantages of rowing
-
Maintaining our fleet of over 25 rowing shells, including 8s, 4s, quads, doubles, and singles
-
Operational costs of the year-round boathouse, such as rent, heating, cooling, and supplies.
-
Purchasing new shells, oars, rowing machines, and other equipment
